filmmaking brief

Ideas
Our idea was to have a family playing on the PS4 looking happy and are having fun while playing all PS4 games. This was our best idea. The other ideas that we had were, when a man got back from work and feels tired and fed up and starts to play on the PS4 to make him feel happier and showing he is enjoying PS4 games. Our other idea was showing all the PS4 games, but we realised that this could be copyrighting if we went with this idea. So the idea we are going for the advert is the family playing the game together. I have had to change the idea for the advert as me and Ralph are working seperatly now as none of the work is getting done now and I thought my idea would be that a child is playing on his phone but he is feeling bored, Until he starts to find an PS4 in loft and starts to play on the games, and he starts to enjoy playing the games. The only problem for this advert is that I don't have an PS4 so my idea was to use my Xbox one but not to get my Xbox one in the shot as this is meant to be a PS4 advert, but I will catch the actor playing the video game on the TV.

SWOT
Strength: My strengths during this production would be using video cameras, video editing and photography. The reason for this is because I like filming and taking pictures and I like doing editing because I can do my own ideas and do what I want without other people telling me what to do, and I like being creative.

Weaknesses: My weaknesses would be image editing and graphic narrative. The reason for this is because it takes a lot of detail to create images and takes a lot of knowledge on what the images are going to look like.

Opportunities: The opportunities that this assignment could give us is working with new technology such as how to work new cameras, new video editing skills and working with different types of computers.

Threats: The threats that could happen during this production could be the wires could  get in the way and people could trip over. The spacing could be tight and small and not enough room for people and that's where people can get hurt. People could cancel the film and say do another day to do the filming which will take longer to do.

Research
This video will be aimed at people who love PS4, people who love to play games or people who specifically like PS4 games. People from the age of 12 to 22. The gender will mostly be males, but females do enjoy playing PS4 games. PS4 is for males and female students who are in secondary school and university. Over 18.8 million people play on video games from the age of 6 to 64 in the UK. On average gamers aged between 11 and 64 spend playing games for 8.8 hours per week. 24% of consoles are used in the UK, 11% are handhelds, 24% of the population spend time on the computers, 21% of the population have smart phones and 16% are tablets. These are all devices that are used in the UK used by the public. 58% of males play on video games, where as 42% of females play on video games, but 15-24 year old males are the largest age and gender demographic. There are 36.4 million game players in the UK, which 57% of the total population. 61% of them spend money on games. The average annual spend per player is £80. PEGI stands for Pan European Game Information.

Production management
During this production the resources that we will need are camera equipment to film the advert, a tripod to hold the camera still, we will need actors to do some acting in this short advert. We will also need to have PS4 console and games to show the audience that it is a PS4 advert. We would also need a computer to do some video editing to turn it into a TV advert. The time would normally take us about 2 days as this is a one minute advert. The entire production thing will take one day, but the other day will an emergency just incase things don't go to plan during the filming. It would take us an extra day to do the video editing. the cost of the film will be expensive as we will need to rent out equipment such as a camera, tripod and maybe even hire staff such as camera operator, video editor etc. To help us with the film and we will need to hire actors which cost us is well so they can perform in the TV advert. During this film there will be no racial violence or racial language that will offend the audience. We are not looking for particular people from a higher class or people who are just white folk. This appears to people for all ages, all people from a different class and people from different backgrounds such as religion and from other countries. There will be no copyright during this production as we won't be taking images and videos off the internet as this we will be creating our very own, but we will be downloading music from the archive so it isn't copyrighting and stealing other peoples work.

Images
In this image they have used a green background to get the blue colour in the background. They used photography to take the picture of the console, and they have also added font onto to the image. They would have used Photoshop to add the background colour and the font. The job roles that were involved with this image are photographer and image designer.

In this image you can see a load of zombies and with background. The way they would of created this poster would be drawing the images first and then editing the images on photoshop to turn the images into a games poster.

Equipment
The equipment that I am going tot use for this short advert is:

  • A black magic camera because they have good quality image quality that makes the images stand out and look very clear to see.
  • A zoom H4 to pick up the audio
These equipment's will help our film to stand out and to make the advert very entertaining to watch. We would also be needing cast. The cast that are going to star in this film is my cousin Jay Pinkney who will be the actor in the film.

Location
The location that the film is going to take place in in Ingelby Barwick in Ralph Smith's house. As his family is willing to take part in the film production. We are going to have at least 5 characters or 4.
